AMAC brings you : Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain and Acupuncture Audit

1. Read 6 articles regarding chronic pain management and efficacy of acupuncture in managing pain.

 

2. Follow 5 patients with chronic MSK pain and record their pain severity scores at presentation and again at the 6th or final acupuncture session.

 

3. Reflect on the readings and the findings from the audit.

 

4. Write up a case presentation of one of the 5 patients audited.

 

Patients may be selected retrospectively or prospectively.

This activity is available from 01/03/2024 – 30/11/2024.

AMAC QLD Audit-The Chronic Non-Cancer Pain and Opioid Deprescribing

AIM: To gather data about patients presenting with chronic non-cancer pain and management of the pain to date, benchmarked against evidence-based best practice, and current evidence of effectiveness of acupuncture for management of chronic pain.

PREDISPOSING ACTIVITY: There are 8 readings followed by a self marking quiz.

AUDIT A: You will choose 5 patients with chronic non-cancer pain who will be treated with Medical Acupuncture. Record de-identified details, including their pain scores at first presentation. You will need to keep a record of the case number for Audit B. e.g. Case 1 in Audit A will be Case 1 in Audit B.

AUDIT B: You will record details of the same 5 patients after they have had 6 sessions of acupuncture treatment, or when they have completed treatment, whichever occurs first.

REINFORCING ACTIVITY: There are questions for individual reflection on the readings and the results of the audit.

NSW April Educational Seminar 2024

Title: Point the way: Acupuncture for Mechanical Low back pain

When: Sunday, 28 April 2024

Dr Chris Chin – GP trained medical acupuncturist with an interest in musculoskeletal and sports medicine.

Dr Joe Cheung – GP and acupuncturist with an interest in musculoskeletal medicine and YNSA.

Optional Online Mini Audit:

Aims:  

×         to extend learning from the face-to-face workshop.

×         to gather data about 5 adult patients with mechanical low back pain (whom you have seen in the past or are current patients) and management of the pain to date, benchmarked against evidence-based best practice, and current evidence of effectiveness of acupuncture for management of mechanical low back pain.

Pre-requisites: the mini audit is only available to attendees of this workshop.

Delivery mode: a link to the online mini audit activity will be provided on payment of the registration fee.

The entire activity – workshop + mini audit – has RACGP approval for the following hours and types:

The mini audit activity must be completed by 25 May 2024 to be eligible for the total 13.5hrs of CPD for this event.

Attendees not wishing to undertake the mini audit will be eligible for partial CPD hours of 6hrs (2.5hrs of educational activities + 3.5hrs of reviewing performance activities).
